Course Overview:
A businesses strategy is a guiding force for small manufacturers through the ups and downs of production, selling, and distribution. In this 6-week course, North Metro SBDC Manufacturing Consultant, Jon Jaggers, will guide your business through essential concepts for small manufacturers, all through the lens of honing your strategy and implementing new approaches. This course is designed for small manufacturing businesses who are in business and are producing a product, have less than 20 employees, and are interested in growing their business.

Find out where the manufacturing industry has landed after the brunt of COVID-19 and discuss topics like appropriate timelines for rebuilding and forecasting, handling pent-up demand for products, readiness of manufacturing operations, and more.

March 11, 2021
Financials. How do you financially rebound for long term success? Deepen your understanding of financial assessments, business plans, and funding options like grants and loans.
Session 3
March 18, 2021
Every business needs strong leadership and management. Learn how to implement best practices like Workforce Training, Lean Techniques, and Time Management to ensure you are operating efficiently and effectively.
Session 4
April 1, 2021
Is your business poised for growth? Are you maximizing your marketing efforts? Create a Growth Plan and learn marketing principles you can start implementing right away.
Session 5
April 8, 2021
A lot goes into your business’s Strategic Plan and it can easily feel overwhelming. We’ll break down the various components of a Strategic Plan, work through a SWOT analysis for your business, and take a look at technical capabilities to enhance your business through innovation, technology, and structure
Session 6
April 15, 2021
Final session. Present your key learnings and verbal commitments to the class and get connected with other resources to help you in your next steps.
CLASS FORMAT
We will meet virtually (Zoom) for six classes. In addition, this course features an online learning platform with class notes, supplemental materials, lecture videos, and weekly homework assignments to move you forward towards your refined Business Strategy.

SCHEDULE
The course is held from 3:00-5:00 PM Mountain Time on Thursdays, beginning March 4th and ending on April 12th. There will be a one-week break in the middle of the course and the class will not meet on March 25th.

Jon Jaggers
North Metro SBDC Lead Marketing Consultant
Jon is a seasoned operations consultant, specializing in optimizing organizational capabilities through implementing process systems, application of lean techniques, and developing strategic plans. He has twenty plus years of operational management experience with several Fortune 500 companies.
Jon utilizes a methodical approach in developing organizational capabilities through strategic planning, tactical initiatives, and operational accountability. He is a certified in lean operational techniques, that when applied drive process excellence while delivering superb customer value. He assists clients in applying metrics to measure and improve key performance indicators.
His focus is on small to medium size company’s strategic and tactical plan development and execution. He has had the opportunity over the last five years to consult with numerous companies that have financially grown and prospered.
Jon has a BA in Business Administration and an MBA in Organizational Leadership from Ashford University. He was awarded State SBDC Consultant of the Year in 2015 for his contribution to his clients for economic development.
