Angela Atkinson has joined the North Metro Denver SBDC as the Center Director.
Angela has a background in consulting to small businesses, nonprofits, and governmental entities. She has held leadership positions with nonprofit organizations and owned a consulting business providing mentorship in marketing, research, strategic planning and leadership development in Southwest Colorado for more than 15 years.
In addition to her consulting practice, she owned her own business specializing in digital marketing, website development, and photography/videography. She is a strong believer in the power of compelling storytelling, and loves helping small businesses uncover and amplify their authentic voice through their messaging.
Angela has been an active member of local governmental boards and councils throughout her career. She holds a BA in English from Montana State University and an MBA in Nonprofit Management from the University of California Haas Graduate School of Business in Berkeley. She’s also studied abroad and volunteered with international organizations assisting refugees.
Special Projects Coordinator
John is an independent contractor and special projects coordinator managing the disaster response efforts by the North Metro SBDC.
John Hovey earned a mechanical engineering degree from Cornell University and then served four years as a U.S. Marine Corps officer, leading over 100 Marines of various talents in the maintenance of $26M dollar F/A-18 fighter jets. Since 2005, he has taught leadership at the National Outdoor Leadership Institute, focusing on international education and wilderness medicine skills. He has worked with clients including the U.S. National Park Service, U.S. Naval Academy, Wharton School of Business, and the Harvard-Affiliated Emergency Medicine Residency.
John specializes in building effective teams quickly and creating a winning leadership style based in authenticity, bold action, and healthy risk management. Cultural adaptation is also a strength as John has proven by taking his message on the road to clients from New York to Alaska and everywhere in between, as well as abroad including Mexico, Scandinavia, Europe, India, Bhutan, China, SE Asia, and New Zealand.
Most recently, John managed a small business in Jackson Hole, WY where he grew not only their bottom line, but also their position as a leader and contributor to the local community. He’s excited to help you grow your business and your personal leadership style.
Michelle Flores is the North Metro SBDC Coordinator. Michelle’s role includes managing client intake, marketing, and website design.
Michelle joined the North Metro SBDC in December of 2019 with an excitement to join “people who help people” build and grow their small businesses!
She has a personal passion for small business, as she helped her son build his own vehicle wrap and decal business from the ground up. She understands the blood, sweat, and tears that go into building a business. Therefore, Michelle appreciates the fact that the North Metro SBDC offers help to new and existing businesses grow and prosper by providing FREE and confidential consulting and no- or low-cost training programs.
Michelle has an established reputation as a team and relationship builder who enjoys working with people; blending creativity with technology; skill in identifying improvements; and resolving challenges.
Administrative Assistant - Fiscal
Linda is our fiscal services coordinator. Linda has worked at FRCC (full time and part time) for almost 19 years and has worked with the SBDC in some capacity since day one. Linda and her husband previously owned their own small business and she understands the many ups and downs, ins and outs of ownership. Linda has always been a detailed person and finds investigating the answers is always challenging so working with any numbers fascinates her. Linda is dedicated to her family, and loves to share stories and photos of her grandchildren!
Hannah joined the North Metro SBDC in July of 2020 as a Coordinator and is thrilled to be using her skills to equip small businesses with the resources they need and to grow the reach of the North Metro SBDC.
Hannah graduated from Colorado State University with a degree in Natural Resources Recreation & Tourism and a minor in Business Administration. Since graduating, Hannah has spent years working to increase involvement, engagement, and efficiencies in local volunteer programs and with small businesses in the outdoor recreation industry.
Hannah is excited to support motivated and passionate entrepreneurs working to make their dreams a reality and strives to be a source of help, encouragement, and knowledge to visitors of the North Metro SBDC.
The Colorado Small Business Development Center Network (SBDC) is funded through a cooperative agreement with the U.S. Small Business Administration (SBA). The SBDC Network is a partnership between the State of Colorado, Colorado Office of Economic Development and International Trade, the Small Business Administration (SBA), Colorado’s institutions of higher education, local economic development organizations and local chambers of commerce.
